Mother's Day Arts & Crafts

Every year at daycare they have a Mother's Day breakfast where we get to go in and they serve donuts and fruit and we get our Mother's Day gifts that the kids have made. Today is the Mother's Day event at Jake's school. I can't wait to see what he has made me. Last year's was a total riot. Jake hates everything having to do with arts and crafts. He definitely prefers trains and cars. Last year the plan was for every kid to paint a picture using finger paints and then they glued that on a piece of construction paper with a photo that the teacher had taken of the kid while they painted their picture for Mommy. Jake's photo was of him strapped into a 5-point harness high chair (that's the only way he would sit still to paint) and my painting was mostly straight lines through a center blob of paint. The only way they could get him to paint a picture was to put some paint on the paper and then let him drive his train through the paint while he was strapped into the high chair. It was the perfect present because it totally captured the essence of my little boy. I can't wait to see what today brings.
